Call for Committees
If you are new to the section, or are not able to commit a significant amount of time, please consider volunteering to chair or participate in one of the committees. Many of them require little work, take the burden off the Executive Council, and will help us grow as a section (thus dividing the labor!) If you are interested in participating please contact us.
The committees available are:
- Communications and IT Support – Chair TBD; Webmaster Michelle Pyle
- Chair duty is to work with section Executive Council to understand and incorporate required IT changes to more effectively communicate with the SWE Tucson section (website, facebook, linkedIn, list serv, etc)
- Committee members support and implement IT/communications changes as needed
- Networking – Chair TBD; Members TBD
- Chair duty is to coordinate planning of networking events
- Committee members support planning of individual events and communicating to section
- Outreach – Chair TBD; Members TBD
- Chair duty is to coordinate planning of outreach events
- Committee members support planning of events and communicating to section
- Past activities have included Tucson SciFest booth, SARSEF Future Innovators Night Science Fair booth and Earth Day activities
- Professional Development – Chair TBD; Members TBD
- Chair duty is to coordinate planning of professional development events
- Committee members support planning of individual events and communicating to section
- Scholarship (Duties fall in March-May timeframe) – Chair TBD; Members TBD
- Chair duty is to work with UofA collegiate section to advertise scholarship (one time yearly) and coordinate review of applications
- Committee members review applications (one time yearly, typically fewer than 3 applications)
- U of A Relations – Chair TBD;
- Chair duty is to coordinate planning of joint professional and collegiate section events
- Committee members support planning of individual events and communicating to section
- Chair duties will roll into President-Elect duties for FY20
- Awards & Recognition – Chair TBD; Members TBD
- Chair duty is to lead committee in the development of a SWE Tucson awards & recognition program
- Committee members support development of the program and create method for members to nominate members for local section awards.
